Single Review | Jack Cullen – All I Need

Jack Cullen’s new track All I Need arrives with quiet confidence. It’s his first release on RCA Records and a subtle shift into a new chapter, one marked by self-awareness rather than spectacle. Rooted in soft acoustic textures and heartfelt lyrics, the single reflects a moment of stillness in a life that rarely slows down.

Written while Cullen was away from home, All I Need leans into themes of love, memory, and finding peace in the things that matter. It doesn’t overreach or try to be something it’s not. Instead, it rests on strong songwriting and emotional clarity, built on the idea that home isn’t always a place, sometimes it’s the people you carry with you.

Cullen’s delivery is unforced. There’s warmth in the way he sings, a kind of emotional ease that’s carried him through a career pivot from professional rugby to full-time music. That transition didn’t come easy. Following surgery, Cullen turned to songwriting as a form of recovery, and it’s led to a sound that’s open, grounded, and honest.

The backdrop to All I Need adds even more weight. Last year, he ran twelve marathons in twelve days along the Cornish coast, raising funds for charity and finding headspace through endurance. That experience fed directly into the song’s creation. Now, with the single out, he’s taking on another physical challenge: cycling from Glasgow to Glastonbury, playing intimate shows in people’s homes, surf resorts, and bars along the way.

He kicked things off at Edinburgh’s Lost Shore Surf Resort and is currently en route to Newcastle, with stops lined up in the Lake District, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, and more before reaching Glastonbury for his first ever appearance at the festival. There’s even a brief detour to London to visit his girlfriend, a reminder that this journey is personal, not performative.

This kind of release cycle is rare. Cullen isn’t pushing for viral moments or overpolished content. He’s just turning up, song in hand, and seeing where the road takes him. It’s a refreshing approach that matches the sentiment of the track: strip it back, find your people, and hold onto what keeps you steady.
