With their new single, “Bang Bang Bang,” they’ve hit a new high in my opinion, delivering a blazing track that’s not only musically thrilling but also deeply resonant. The song was initially conceived as a commentary on American gun culture but has taken on new weight following the band’s harrowing experience of being robbed at gunpoint. Sports Team’s latest single didn’t come into existence without a compelling backstory. Originally, “Bang Bang Bang” was penned as a reflective and critical take on America’s gun culture. On December 3rd, during the first leg of their American tour in San Francisco, Sports Team became the victims of a robbery at gunpoint. The incident occurred in the Bay Area while the band and their crew were enjoying a quick coffee break. They were alerted that their tour van was being broken into, and upon attempting to intervene, they were confronted by an armed assailant. This harrowing experience, while terrifying, imbued “Bang Bang Bang” with a chilling new resonance. Originally crafted from the perspective of distant observers, the track now carries the weight of personal experience, adding layers of depth and poignancy to an already powerful piece.

“Bang Bang Bang” is a prime example of Sports Team’s ability to innovate while staying true to their roots.
